About Another World Christmas trees

In the beginning.

Imagine the background photo with no trees, well 45 years ago when the first generation arrived Another World was a barren derelict farm. Trees were planted for shelter nearly straight away and the first seedling Christmas trees were planted soon after.

Moss Farm Conifers

We began as Moss Farm Conifers, growing and selling Christmas trees as well as hedging conifers. We sold mainly the traditional Norway Spruce in those days – you remember, the prickly ones that the needles fell off – selling over 15 000 a year throughout the Country. After years of research and growing along with other Christmas tree growers throughout the Uk non-dropping varieties were introduced and now there are many different styles and types to choose from.

Who remembers 'dig your own'

Everyone knows about pick your own strawberries  but who would want to dig their own Christmas tree? Well loads of folk as it happens, ‘Bring your spade n wellies’ was the advert in the courier and everyone did, some went further and brought picnics, others disappeared for Hours, some came back with something that could never be described as a Christmas tree but took it home and decorated it anyway. Those were the days.

Over the years, the first and second generation has planted over quarter of a million trees (not on their own I hasten to add). Now we are mainly an activity centre the planting has changed to more amenity and conservation planting.

Our Christmas trees are whoppers now 20 -40 ft high and take some digging up so we buy from growers we have associated and been friends with throughout our history.

Growers who have our same high standards in quality and are as local as possible so the trees are fresh when they get here. Growers from Yorkshire, Lancashire (I do so struggle with that word) and Scotland.
